From waste to raw material
VANG is the Dutch acronym for From Waste to Raw Material, and that is precisely what we stand for. With our programme, we are contributing to a circular world in which waste is prevented and recycled wherever possible. After all, if we produce less waste and recycle more, less residual waste will have to be incinerated and that is good for our environment.
VANG Buitenshuis focuses specifically on companies in the office, retail and service sector. We help a large and diverse group of companies to segregate waste streams and prevent waste, and to make the switch to circular business operations in many different ways. Our focus is on sharing knowledge and experience to get as many companies involved as possible, the aim being that the sector itself takes the initiative.
Who is it for?
The office, retail and service sector is made up of 1 million companies and other organisations. This includes government agencies, education, cultural institutions, the catering and hospitality industry and the professional services sector. But it also covers clubs, shops, wholesalers and facilities management companies. Each year, this sector generates 5.3 million tonnes of waste of which just half is recycled. So there is a lot to be gained.
How are we going to achieve this?
In the past few years, we have worked together with pioneers in a range of sectors. Together with them, we have looked at bottlenecks, but also at things that can be done now. We share practical examples, carry out additional research, organise knowledge-sharing sessions and make handy tools available to everyone.
With the VANG Buitenshuis team, we translate all the acquired knowledge and experience into actions. We provide the various sectors with made-to-measure information and ideas which they can subsequently apply to their own waste. Things like information on waste stream segregation, communication on waste or a policy for banning disposable cups.
